Why is it so hard for busy men to stay fit? Simply because busy man fitness requires that a man be extremely well rounded is his priorities and not make excuses for anything...ever!

Make no mistake, if you are a busy man there are easily two dozen things that could completely choke your workout time in any given day. The result? Most men put their fitness and health on the sideline thinking they can call it into the game at a later time when they need it most.

I'm sorry, but it DOES NOT work like that!

Your health is an extremely valuable asset to you and your family. You need to treat it as such and make small daily investments that will keep your productivity levels up to par day in and day out.

The following article will show you 5 secret ways the busiest of busy men stay fit. The best part...you can use these secrets to instantly get yourself on track with consistent, daily workouts.

Below you can see a brief outline of the 5 secrets I recommend to make sure you can get your workouts in. Remember, there is no such thing as being too busy to workout.

In this two part series we are going to cover my 5 time-tested secrets to keeping a healthy, vibrant physique at any age and on any time schedule.

If you are the type of person who is always thinking of time-related excuses when it comes to getting in your workout, I believe this article will give you an entirely different paradigm when it comes to working out. Now, let's dive in started with my number one secret!

1. use your lunch hour

Your lunch hour can be a powerful boost to your daily routine.

Sadly, many people never use their lunch hours for this purpose. Many people work straight through their lunch hours thinking they will be more productive because they will get an extra hour of work in.

Studies suggest that the longer you are focused on a single project, the less your intensity and motivation can be towards that project. Your lunch hour is a much needed break from the first half of your work day. Simply put, you need to get off your ass and get your blood flowing.

Not only will sitting in a chair all day decrease your flexibility and increase your chances for back pain, but it will also make you a weakling...both mentally and physically! We can't have that!

The concept I'd like to introduce to you is a method where you use the first 15-20 minutes of your lunch break to do some physical activity on a daily basis. This can either be low-intensity exercise like walking or high intensity exercise like weight lifting or cardio interval type exercises. The choice depends on your current fitness levels and your goals.

You can then use the remaining portion of your lunch break to shower and grab a quick bite to eat. This routine actually works wonders if you bring your lunch to work or happen to be lucky enough that your workplace actually caters for the office.

The important thing here is that you get SOMETHING in. You need to fit some type of activity into your day on a consistent basis and this is the first thing I usually suggest to my clients when they are lacking the normal time required to get in a great workout.

2. exercise upon waking

True, getting in a workout when you are having trouble getting to the bathroom early in the A.M. may not sound like a happy experience...but have you tried it?

This approach works great for the man who has ZERO time during his day for anything. If this is you, then your only solution is to get the workout in as soon as you open your eyes.

The appropriate way to start would be with some light dynamic flexibility exercises to get your blood flowing. You would then progress into some very easy and light calisthenics.

Harder, more challenging bodyweight exercises like push-ups, jump squats, and various core related exercises would cap off the workout. This would take approximately 15-20 minutes MAX.

Like I said, this approach is for a very busy individual. After your 15-20 minute blast, you would then hit the showers and proceed with your normal daily routine.

Chances are, you will start noticing the benefit of this type of workout within the first few days. You will start seeing a difference in the types food you eat (because your body will automatically crave healthier foods for recovery) as well as a dramatic increase in your energy levels.

Best of all, while the rest of your office is falling asleep at their desks around 11am or 3pm, you will feel like you are ready to kick ass throughout the day. Your thoughts will be clear, and you will be able to maintain your focus no matter what you work on for the day.

I highly recommend this "workout-upon-waking" routine because I know it has worked for many fit businessmen the world over including myself time and time again. You know what they say...the proof is in the results.

3. exercise right after work

So you can't wake at 4 a.m. to get your early morning sweat in...what's a fit businessman to do?

Easy, instead of cramming into the first train out of the city or sitting in 2 mph traffic on your way home, hit the gym instead! This is a great use of time since 90% of your co-workers will be wasting their time sitting in a car going nowhere while you are burning calories and getting ripped.

I like this approach for men that need to take a lengthy commute after work. Like I said, the alternative isn't going to be productive and you can literally get home after work almost around the same time if you go to the gym instead of trying to beat everyone out of the office.

The approach to your workout would be the same with this method as the previous two above...quick and brutal. As an added benefit, this post-work workout will end up giving you a second wind prior to arriving home for your significant or family.

Many men return home after work full of the stress from their day and end up taking their frustrations from work out on their family and friends. Why not instead direct this pent up stress towards your workout and get both a healthy physique and family relationship out of it?

One more thing. It's fair to say that after a long day at work you will face a tough effort in trying to get yourself into the gym. This is a false feeling...ignore it completely! In most cases, the fact that you are tired stems from sitting down and being so sedentary during your work day. If you just get yourself into the gym, you will notice that your energy levels will increase quickly and you will experience a drastic shift in your motivation towards your workout.

In 5 Secrets of Busy Man Fitness: Part II we will cover the last 2 secrets of busy man fitness that you can use to fit in that daily workout...even if you think you haven't got the time.
